About Thomasville
The Company
The story of Thomasville began in Thomasville, North Carolina, in 1904. At the time,
we offered just one product – a chair. The “Thomasville Chair” it was called. The
chair was so beautifully crafted and well made that people responded by asking us
to create other pieces as well. Now more than 100 years later, the Thomasville story
is still being written. And now part of our story is helping you tell yours – with home furnishings, accessories and cabinetry that allow you to express yourself through your home.
Even as home styles have evolved over the years, Thomasville has evolved, too, keeping
step with the fashion trends of the day. This dynamic and flexible spirit, which
underlies everything we do, is what has allowed us to continue growing our business
and maintain our position as an/the industry leader. Today, Thomasville furniture is sold
through more than 150 independently owned Thomasville Home Furnishings Stores, as
well as over 400 leading independent retail stores. And we’ve produced two of the
most successful licensed furniture collections in the industry: Ernest Hemingway®,
The Collection of a Lifetime; and Humphrey Bogart™. We’ve also expanded our product
line to include Thomasville
Cabinetry® for the kitchen and bath, Thomasville Lighting and Thomasville Flooring.
The People
Of course, the fact that we’re still around after a century is a testament to the
people who are Thomasville. Setting the tone for our current-day philosophy were
two timber farmers, T.J. and C.F. Finch, who had the foresight to accept Thomasville
stock as payment for the wood they provided. After buying out other stockholders,
they began shaping the company into a brand that would become known for innovative
designs and manufacturing quality.
These same two core values of innovation and quality are still being embodied by
the people of this company – from our headquarters in Thomasville, North Carolina,
on down to the retail level. Every single Thomasville employee remains as dedicated
to helping you express yourself through our products as the Finch brothers were.
It’s just part of who we are.
